Industry 5.0, or what will the industry of the future be like?

The concept of industry 5.0 is coming more and more often, but not everyone is aware of what this name means. Industry 5.0, also known as the fifth industrial revolution, is a new and evolving phase of industrialization in which humans work hand-in-hand with advanced technology and robots controlled by artificial intelligence to improve workplace processes. Industry 5.0 is essentially a new manufacturing concept, which is the next phase after Industry 4.0, the current industrial revolution, which means cooperation between increasingly efficient and precise machines and the unique creative potential of humans. The focus of Industry 5.0 is human-centeredness, sustainability and flexibility.

What is industry 4.0?

Industry 4.0, also known as the fourth industrial revolution, represents the first stage of digital transformation, in which industrial processes are gradually integrated with digital technologies such as cloud computing, IoT and artificial intelligence. Industry 4.0 aims to automate and optimize processes, and it wants to achieve this by connecting industrial tools and systems, enabling real-time data collection and analysis, and implementing data-based decision support. This is no longer the music of the future, but the industry of the present. However, development does not stop. Industry 5.0 is the further development of Industry 4.0. This new stage integrates artificial intelligence and automated processes even more.

Human-centricity

Human-centricity means that in Industry 5.0, machines help people, not replace them. Machines can recognize and interpret human work processes and use this information to support workers more effectively. Industry 5.0 involves a strategy that sees people not only as a resource but focuses on creating added value for employees, so you can attract and retain the best employees.

Sustainability

In Industry 5.0, production processes are environmentally friendly and sustainable. Machines and industrial processes use resources more efficiently and produce less waste. However, Industry 5.0 does not stop at reducing or minimizing climate damage but seeks to create positive change. The goal is to make the world a better place and for companies to become part of the solution instead of the problem.

Flexibility

For Industry 5.0, flexibility means that manufacturers can respond more quickly and flexibly to changing needs. Machines are capable of self-learning and adaptation, so manufacturers can develop new products and services in a shorter time. Many businesses seek to increase efficiency and optimize profits, but these factors do not improve flexibility and make a company less resilient to unexpected crisis situations such as a pandemic or war. More flexible Industry 5.0 organizations must anticipate and respond to any crisis to ensure stability in challenging times.

Industry 5.0 is still a developing concept, but the European Union places great emphasis on it and has launched numerous programs to support it. In the coming years, it is expected to gain more and more space and have a significant impact not only on production processes but on society as a whole.
