Operational Excellence
Every business has to face numerous and different challenges, both external and internal ones. For instance, speed and the ability to adapt to changing market conditions are significant challenges for businesses. New technologies and innovation acceleration are disrupting all traditional industries and markets.
The threat of new competition, rising customer expectations, expanding markets, and digitalization are the key drivers of change, and the driving force behind the ever increasing need for Operational Excellence.
Every change in the market affects how a company operates and performs. Advanced technologies, increasing digitization such as AI, Robotic Process Automation, Machine Learning, IOT, Cloud Computing, Big Data, Data Analytics, Robotics, Mobile Applications are just some of the technology shifts.
But how does effective change take place? What does Operational Excellence mean? We asked Márton Máté Tóth, Regional OPX Manager for Eastern Europe and Asia Pacific about it.
What is Operational Excellence?
It is an organization which purpose is to keep an eye on the company’s processes and look for possibilities to improve them to increase efficiency. Networking within the companies is key, but we should not only look inward, customer focus needs to come first and we need to keep an eye on the competitors as well.
In this unpredictable market environment where customer needs are constantly changing, how can you ensure Operational Excellence?
Customer focus is very important. We should not only react to customer’s needs, we need to anticipate them and offer solutions to the customers. We are a company with value-added complex solution packages for various industries. That means that as the largest material supplier in Eastern Europe we do not only offer basic materials, but also solution packages tailored exactly to our customer’s need such as material processing, supply chain management and logistics services supported by digitalization, based on industrial references and many years of experience. Our cooperation is always based on transparent and mutual communication. We breathe with our customer.
What is your opinion about disruptive technologies and digitalization developments? Should you take into account in your work? If so, how does it affect it?
Digitalization and using advanced technologies in every aspect of life is key for success, especially in a competitive business environment like ours. Therefore it is a major part of my work. thyssenkrupp is in the phase of digital transformation. We see the digital transformation holistically, from order to delivery.
