Dóra Szilágyi

I love dealing with people and in my opinion this is what makes the trader position the most wonderful

  • Beyond good

Age: 26

Company/ Position:  thyssenkrupp Materials Hungary, Area Representative

Education: Budapest Business School

Hobby:  Spending time with Finci (my dog) . With my friends we usually play board games or cook for each other.

Why did you choose the steel industry and why thyssenkrupp Materials Hungary?

I chose this company because of the good reputation in Hungary. The steel industry just came into my life with thyssenkrupp. I wasn’t looking for a specific steel company, but I am so glad to be part of this industry and gain more and more professional knowledge every year.

What are the daily challenges for someone who chooses to work in such a „tough industry”?

Nowadays the daily challenges are the communication with customers and keep up with the fast changing market.

What makes it exciting? What is it that attracts you to this industry or to thyssenkrupp Materials Hungary?

The most exciting part is the partner communication because of the rapidly changing market situation (raw material shortages, price increases, etc.). I love dealing with people and in my opinion this is what makes the trader position the most wonderful.

How can you best balance work and private life to make time for everything? Is it even possible? What is the secret of your success?

I am a very positive person in all aspects of my life, so my answer is that it is of course possible to keep the balance in a long term. Some of the days we have to work more and there are days when we have more time for the private life.  It is never the same, not every day we have the same amount of time for everything. If you organize your days and prioritize what is the most important at work and in private life, then you will find the way to balance.

Why do you recommend the women@MX initiative to your female colleagues?

It is very important to be part of something. A group, especially for women is the best thing to know that you are never alone. This industry that sometimes feels like it is just for men, and then you realize you are useful and it helps you to grow together, it is the best feeling.

That is why I would like to share it with my female colleagues to help them feel the same way.
