Why did you choose the steel industry and why thyssenkrupp Materials Hungary?

I used to work in the energy industry as a sales representative. I wanted to try myself in a new field. I like challenges, they motivate me, so I chose an unknown field, the steel industry. I saw an advertisement for a sales representative at thyssenkrupp, I applied immediately and it was successful. The prospect of working for a multinational, market-leader was attractive to me. I joined the company in April 2019.

What are the daily challenges for someone who chooses to work in such a „tough industry”?

As a woman, it is not easy to work in a largely male-dominated industry, but I try to succeed. As a woman, I need to work harder to gain the trust of my partners.

What makes it exciting? What is it that attracts you to this industry or to thyssenkrupp Materials Hungary?

The steel market is changing rapidly, so you always have to be up to date. Every day is a new challenge. These challenges and new tasks motivate me, which makes everyday life exciting. At thyssenkrupp I have found excellent supportive colleagues. It is an environment where you can develop and always learn something new and I like it.

How can you best balance work and private life to make time for everything? Is it even possible? What is the secret of your success?

In today's hectic world, it is hard to find a work-life balance. It does not always work. But I try to find time to relax, which the sport, the nature are for me and my family. We do a lot of hiking and running in the nature, which is recharging and relaxing.  It helps me a lot in my work, I can work off the tension in sports.

Why do you recommend the women@MX initiative to your female colleagues?

There are a lot of dedicated women in our company who are doing a great job in a male-dominated steel industry. I was delighted to see the launch of the women@MX initiative, which aims to support and help talented female workers. I would like to encourage all female colleagues to visit the site and take advantage of the opportunities women@MX.
